Departments
A Board of Jathedars serves as an advisory and scrutiny body. It also deals with grievances and disputes.
Composition – Amritdhari Sikhs who have achieved distinction in their fields
Appointed by – the General Assembly
Meetings – Twice a year
Term – 5 years
The General Assembly is the ultimate decision-making body of Supreme Sikh Council UK.
Composition – Affiliated Member Organisations
Membership – Application
Meetings – Bi-annually (minimum)
Votes for – Executive Committee (every two years)
Affiliation fees – based on organisation size, determines meeting delegate numbers
Term – Two years
The Executive Committee system preserves the power of our Affiliated Member Organisations whilst allowing for deficiencies such as gender, age, geographic, social, and cultural background. It also addresses specific skills and experiences for our work.
Composition – 51 members (maximum)
– 30 members are selected by General Assembly members
– 21 members selected by the 30 members (members/non-members)
Accountable to – the General Assembly
Meetings – Four times a year
Term – Two years
Office Bearers comprise of:
- Secretary General
- Administrative Secretary
- Treasurer
- Coordinator of Affiliate Organisations
- Spokesperson
Numbers – Five (members from the Management Committee)
Members – Amritdhari Sikhs (except their assistants or other named officers)
Appointed by – the General Assembly
Term – not more than four years
Specialist sub-committees may be appointed to assist in the efficient and proper functioning of SSCUK (based on skills, experience, and expertise), including the following:
- Community Safety
- European and International Affairs
- Finance
- General Purpose (other matters)
- Indian Sub-continent Affairs
- Media and Communication
- Strategy, Policy and Legal Affairs
Composition – members of the Executive Committee or General Assembly
– non-members (Sikhs , non-Sikhs)
Appointed by – the Executive Committee
